Offshore environments create unique challenges for both operators and systems. The working conditions at sea, under some of the toughest climates and often far from special maintenance and service facilities, demand the highest levels of reliability.

Garo packaged compression systems for offshore applications guarantee reliable, low maintenance performance.

Thanks to their robust and reliable design, Garo liquid ring compressors are the ideal choice for offshore applications. Liquid ring compressors run cool and have the ability to clean the gas as they compress it - removing the need for downstream condensers and scrubbers. The result is a simpler, more reliable system.
Used in packaged systems, Garo compressors can recover fuel or flare gasses, and condense valuable hydrocarbons. This allows operators to maximize profitability by recycling process gases and vapors that would otherwise be lost or burnt. At the same time, Garo solutions can help FPSOs, FSOs, and Offshore Platforms meet the stringent environmental legislation, which prohibits the flaring of waste gasses.
Garo machines can be used for a range of applications in the offshore industry, including flare gas compression, vapor recovery, and vent gas recovery. Discover our full range, and learn about how Garo compressors can benefit your offshore operations!

Offshore flaring presents operators with a range of challenges, such as space limitations, high pressures, heat radiation, noise, and environmental pollution. Key to the safe operation of FPSOs, FSOs, or Offshore Platforms, Flare Gas Recovery (FGR) is the process of recovering and repurposing flare gasses and reducing emissions. These gasses, which would normally be burned during the flaring process, include carbon dioxide, methane/LPGs, hydrogen sulfide, and sulfur dioxide.

At a high level, a flare gas recovery unit uses a liquid ring compressor to recover and compress the gasses. The compressed gas is then cycled back for being reused. This process helps production platforms to reduce flare pollution, preserve flare stacks, and improve air quality.

Vapor Recovery Units minimize Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions that occur, for example, during the loading or storage of oil on vessels. Vapor that would normally be vented into the atmosphere is recovered, reducing atmospheric emissions and their associated hazards or health effects. The recovered vapor is then cycled back into the process. On the other hand, the remaining VOCs (light ends) can be used as fuel in boilers to produce steam for process use or power generation.

For over 70 years, Garo has been providing the most reliable compressors and packages designed to meet the demands of the oil & gas industry. We make our customers successful by maximizing efficiency and preventing unscheduled downtime.

Engineered for demanding applications, Garo compressors are renowned for their rugged design and construction, giving them a high tolerance to carryover and process upsets.
