Garo New Milestone: 900 Days Without Recordable Incidents
We are proud to announce the Garo Headquarters in Monza, Italy achieved the significant milestone of 900 days without a recordable incident. A more than desirable event, which objectively demonstrates our commitment to guarantee a safe work environment.
This achievement is even more important to us since the first quarter of 2018 has been marked by a sad and alarming increase of work-related incidents within Italy: 176 workplace deaths in the first 100 days, an increase of 13,6 % compared to the same period of 2017 (source: Osservatorio Indipendente of Bologna)
Our significant achievement is the result of the constant activity driven by our EHS department; every day at Garo, we adopt best practices and standards to align our company to the most updated safety processes and principles. Our continuous attention in this field is confirmed by our certification and conformance to the OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 standards, which guide us in our activities. Our EHS Department constantly investigates and assesses potential risk at our premises, and provides appropriate resources and support to eliminate or mitigate the risks resulting in total compliance with all the Environmental, Health and Safety standards.
Only with the promotion of best practices, employee self-awareness, engagement, and training combined with the zero incident culture are we able to reduce the risk of injury.
By complying with the legal obligations and with all the other regulatory requirements, and integrating them with additional measures, Garo is able to obtain a safe company.
Focusing on global safety, in June 2018 Gardner Denver Nash will celebrate the National Safety Month, and Garo will join the celebration proudly. 2018 National Safety Month, which aims to reduce the leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road and in our homes and communities, will be divided into four main topics - one per week, as follows:
- 1st Week - Emergency Preparedness
- 2nd Week - Wellness
- 3rd Week - Falls
- 4th Week - Driving
The stated global program will be applied locally in each Gardner Denver Nash plant through customized and suitable activities.
Garo believes that this kind of event is the right occasion to establish an open and constructive discussion about sensitive topics like workplace and home safety. At Garo, commitments are shared and promoted at many levels; from the management to the employees, from customers to suppliers. Every entity who plays a role in employee safety must comply with these values to guarantee the health and the welfare of each member of our team. Safety - It's Everyone's Responsibility!
Looking to the future, Garo cannot wait to achieve the next milestone: 1000 days without a recordable incident!
